It simply ends when the month or year is over, unless you buy again. Nothing renews by itself and nothing is charged later.

What your Premium actually pays for
Every free messaging app is paid for somehow. The usual answer is advertising, which means watching what you say, who you say it to and how long you look at it, and then selling that on. We decided against that answer before we wrote a line of mssgs, so there is nothing in the app that tracks you for a buyer, and there never will be.
That leaves you. Premium and credits are the whole business model: no investors to satisfy, no data to resell, no subscription you forgot about. A month buys real things: servers in the European Union, storage for everything people send, bandwidth for every call and every stream, and the people who build mssgs and keep it running. Buying one is a direct contribution to a European alternative built the honest way, and it pays for the next thing we make.
Not buying anything is fine too. Communities, channels, direct messages, voice calls, the games and the map stay free for everyone.
